Bat Control

Master Pest Patrol offers safe and humane bat control in the Sacramento area.

Bats may be the most misunderstood animals in the United States, although as consumers of enormous numbers of insects, they rank among the most beneficial. Almost all United States bats, and 70 percent of the bat species worldwide, feed almost exclusively on insects and are thus extremely beneficial. In fact, bats are the only major predators of night-flying insects. One bat can eat between 600 and 1,000 mosquitoes and other insect pests in just one hour.

Property Damage

Bats commonly reside in building walls, attics or between the roof and the ceiling. Droppings and dead bats can cause severe odour, damage and contamination of property and heating/AC systems, which makes removing bats from a house all the more important

Bat Guano

Bat guano can definitely pile up quickly depending on the amount of bats in your attic.

Bat colonies can range in size from one to several hundred. The longer a bat stays in a building, the greater the chances of breeding and infiltrating smaller spaces in turn making removing bats from a house more difficult. Proper removal and cleanup may eventually involve ripping out drywall, sheathing and flooring.

Bat colonies double in size every year. Bats in Ontario tend to hibernate or go back to the same property every year unless they are removed and excluded properly. They do not typically fly south for the winter and tend to roost and hibernate in places with a moderate temperature (i.e. buildings).

Bat Exclusion

The best way to get rid of bats is also the safest – for both the bats and the humans involved. This is to exclude them. But in this area, it is better not to treat them in May 15 through August 15, because these months are when the “pups” are born and still unable to fly. If the bats are excluded during that time, you might have 100’s of dead bats in your attic and that would definitely stink.

All of our work is guaranteed. Our methods are as follows:

  • Initial Inspection: During our first visit, we visually inspect your building to determine the scope of infestation, identify obvious entry points, and get an idea of how we’ll need to customize exclusion devices to suit your building’s configurations.
Exclusion Device Installation and Peripheral Entry Seals: We install customized exclusion devices at all major entry/exit points, and seal all the secondary or peripheral entry/exit points.
  • Sealing of Major Entry/Exit Points: Seven days after the exclusion devices are installed, all of the roosting bats will have left your building in search of food or water. Extremely loyal to roosting sites, the bats return again and again but are unable to re-enter, so they seek alternative roosting sites. At this point, we come back, remove the exclusion devices and permanently seal points of entry.
